Online Sale - A Marketplace Any Wineries Shouldn’t Ignore - What Singles Day 11.11 Phenomenon Implicate To Your Marketing Strategy

November 12, 2016

Starting 00:00 November 11 (11.11, aka Singles Day in China) to 24:00, T-Mall (China and World’s largest online sales platform) announced it recorded a total transaction amount of CNY120.7 billion (US$17.7 billion or EUR16.3 billion) in 24 hours, which was another breakthrough to CNY91.2 billion, or a 32% growth to last year’s record.  Of the CNY120.7 billion transaction volume, 82% of it was made via consumer’s mobile devices.

Besides T-Mall (TMALL.COM), figures of its major competitor JD.COM and alike have yet released any data.  No matter what the final data would be, the trend set by Alibaba group (TMALL’s parent group) has built a new spending culture to the new young generation of Chinese consumers.

Alibaba entertained the World’s media in the media center in Shenzhen this year (not as usual in Hangzhou their headquarters in past years).  It was like dealers watching the live figures in a Wall Street transaction center, 1 billion Renminbi Yuan in 52 seconds, 6’58’ reached 10 billion Yuan, 15h19m13s broke the record of 2015’s (91.2 billion yuan), 18h55m36s reached 100 billion yuan.

The sky-rocket pace and development of mobile online sales opportunities (over 600 million Chinese assessing internet via their mobile handsets or tablets) provide international wineries an insight to learn and study, how would they deploy the marketing strategies in their promotion campaign, whether as an information platform or the best also being a sales (enhancement) platform.

To those international wineries who are interested to learn more of these opportunities, you could contact us at info@ChinaWineBusiness.com for further communication.
